- Adequate Surface area for work and work-flow
- Natural Lighting that does not interfere with computer screen visibility, or cause eye strain during any part of the work day. (Warm Sun and drowsiness, light behind the monitor)
- Full spectrum lighting, incandescent if florescent/high efficiency bulbs cause migraines.
- Tools and resources that have not been used within the past 3 months into storage that is either out of arms reach or in another room (accessible, just not adding clutter to day to day operations). And all tools and reference material within arms reach that is used regularly. Getting Organized - Stephanie Winston
- A chair that ensures proper posture and the usage of the entire seat. Task chairs with a firm foam base (with only soft foam the cushion wears out in about a week), mid back/no more then shoulder height, and removable elbow/arm rests (their are many reasons for this, one being that an arm rest prevents the chair from being brought close to the desk and can reduce the reach while sitting in it, and takes up excessive floor space in some cases when not in use). From experience
- If its a home office, that you have the A/C unit controls within arms reach for phone calls and temp control (or a remote). From experience
- A filing system that facilitates output and project tracking - The Organized Executive - Stephanie Winston
- For a computer desk: a keyboard AND mouse tray (with a mouse on the surface it can cause reduction in efficiency). From experience.
