Given that much food grows for free in the wild would it not be very useful if we were all able to recognise and use the free resources that are abundantly available to all of us in most places in the world.

A big problem with this is that most people struggle to identify the plants and their uses.

If anyone is familiar with Google Goggles they know it is a very useful tool for taking a picture of say a famous painting. Google Goggles is a piece of software that will recognise that painting from a picture you have taken from your camera. It will then display all information relating to that famous painting. i.e. the name of the artist and the year it was painted and so on...

So My idea is to use the same technology in order to recognise plants. One could good out in to the wild and take a picture of an area of ground populated with unknown weeds, plants and fauna and then have a piece of software similar to Google Goggles that will be able to name and display information relating to the plants i.e. weather plant is edible, its medicinal uses and other things...
