Better Integration of Backward Planner Items into Daily Target Praxis
I've noticed a gap in the integration of Backward planner items into Daily Tasks.
To me the beauty of Simpleology is the integration of daily tasks into your short, medium and long term plans but this doesn't seem to happen automatically.
Simply adding all the backward planner items to the bottom of the target praxis Step 1 (Brain dump) or Step 2 (review your targets) would solve this problem automatically.
For the sake of neatness it would make sense perhaps, to add the relevant backward planners to the relevant "review your major targets" tabs within the praxis.
Simply being able to add them to the dream catcher, as you already can within the backward planner, would be fine.

Even if the actions appear at the bottom of the short medium or long focus during start my day that would be great. simply click on the ones you want to add to start my day process that day. adding all the actions at once clogs up start my day process and having to go back to lists is distracting when your busy and just want to start your day

I see the comments of this being planned, but I don't see it in Planned status. Was that reverted? Why has this idea not been implemented yet since 2011? This feature is lacking in the Major Focus and would really make it easier to go through the steps in the Backward Planner for the related Short-Term, Medium-Term and Long-Term Focuses.

YAY! very happy to see this one planned :)

yeah, I just want to add this one, too. :-)
it could help, if we can add things from backward planner to daily targets from step 1 and step 2, and,
the backward planner should be editable and it could be nice if we can change the position - if I add something, I want to be able to sort them instead of change all of them.
I hope you understand what I mean. -

LOVE that this is going to improve. What a great tool to help us with real backward planning.

Yes, this is a great idea.
One thought is to have an option during daily praxis is a chance to review all the backward planner tasks to choose what you add to daily dump list instead of just adding them all there would be good.
if during the review of targets, you choose not to do as step today, there should still be an option to keep it in the backwards planner for that major focus.
hope that makes sense. thanks -

I'm pleased to see this has so many votes but, I can see my original comment was a little confusing.
To be clear I'd suggest adding the relevant backward planner items (from the My Life - Major Focus tab) to the bottom of Step 2 (Review Your Major Targets) of the Start My Day pages.
This would mean you could add major focus backward planner items to your dreamcatcher during your daily target praxis (Start My Day).
Hope this makes it clearer.
Ron Hash's comment below sums it up perfectly. Thanks Ron.

I've lost the track a bit with this conversation (easy to confuse me :) ) but I get the gist and agree, being able to intigrate the backward planner is a great idea.
I also like the idea of being able to backward plan some of the individual items in my backward planner, as some of these steps can become quite involved and then your planner becomes enormous, which can become quite overwelming and defeats the object of having something broken down in the first place.
Sometimes you sort of need individual items to become short term or medium term focus's all on their own, but when you are already concentrating on one of these, you can't add another, so a way of adding them to the main 'Stuff I want' area would be good, then they can have their individual planner which you can add to the dreamcatcher as you need to but are sitting there ready to add to one of the focus's when you need to.
That came out a bit wordy, but I hope it makes sense.

I simply cannot agree with this more!! We have already entered the steps (in the backward planner) that we need to take to move towards these targets. It would be awesome to see that full list on Step 2 and to be able to add them right there to my daily targets! Please, please consider this. It fully incorporates the backward planner into the DTP. It would be soooo helpful!!

I agree with this idea. I would like the ability to modify the backward planner lists within the short/med/long term goal tabs and then be able to transfer those steps within the target praxis for the day.

I really like the ideas Mr. Jones's has presented. In addition, what about adding items from some point in the target praxis to the backward planner? I often have brainwaves in the middle of the day regarding a step I need to take that belongs at a later point within the plan. I always put the idea in the dream catcher, but being able to move it from there (or some other point within the target praxis) to the backward planner would make the process of updating and adjusting my "backward plan" quicker and smoother.

I'd love to be able to add the backward planner approach at other levels!!! FABULOUS idea!!!
Especially important would be adding the ability to do the backward planner on all the focus targets. I can also the helpful approaches of adding them into the dream catcher. Maybe the other two - brain dump and review targets as well.

I totally agree and would add
"Time it will take" box on the daily to do
and be able moveing items from backward planner to daily praxis and
from mental lock box to daily or backward planner
this would be in lieu of cutting and pasting again and again,
we are here to stream line the process aren't we? -

One problem with the current system is that if you transfer an item from a Backward Planner list to one of the Major Focus targets, you cannot then do a backward plan on these targets as Backward Planners are only creatable on an Ultimate Life target.
I like to break tasks down using a step-wise refinement approach starting from an Ultimate Life target and backward planning that target, then transferring some of those BP targets to Long, Medium Term or Short Term Focus targets. Then I might also want to backward plan each of those Major Focus targets and transfer their BP targets to a shorter-term Major Focus, or to a Daily Target.
The flexibility to do this only requires simply allowing Backward Planner lists to be created for each Major Focus target also. Easy.

This would be great for me to make the Backward Planner more usable and flexible.
I vote, though, only for the ability to add new Backward Planner lists to each the Major Focus items in addition to the Ultimate Life items (allowed currently).
I personally think it would be overkill to have them added to Daily Targets or DreamCatcher items as this should already be small enough tasks that you can achieve in one day and be fairly easy to keep in one's mind the steps required without further planning or lists.
Currently all backward planner targets can be transferred to Daily Targets when needed for that day.
