Mark - it is possible to "code once/ device many" here.
We have developed iPhone/ iPad/ Android versions of the same app many times.
We blitz the need to develop multiple times by using one of the development platforms that allows you to develop once, and then the development tool itself creates each mobile device version.
PhoneGap is likely to most popular (covers 6 platforms!) but there are others like iSites.

Hey Mark,
I thought you might have already had that in mind xD
That is a good point tho about the steps required. However it may be possible to get around that to a certain extent - most smart-phones I've played with these days seem to have a way to save a bookmarked webpage to your main screen. You may just need to provide a few quick how-to tutorials for commonly used phones for users who might not be sure how to do it.
If they could do that then it would be as simple as clicking the saved bookmark on the main screen which would go straight to the login website, then they could log in once the page loads and away you go. This would be the exact same process they would have to do for an app anyway except that now it would load a website vs a specific app.
Furthermore since it would be a mobile specific version of the website you could experiment with re-organizing the layout to have the main features easily accessible and therefore minimizing the amount of navigation required.
Just some ideas anyway. I know with your great team you guys will find a way to get this going in time :)
Cheers.

Hey Luke, haha you are reading my mind :-) That was my original intention back when we first digitized the cockpit. The challenge is that it creates so many steps for people (open browser, navigate to site, log in, navigate, etc ...) that few people will end up using it.
We're still discussing this and kicking around solutions. We'll get this licked one way or another!

Hey Mark,
Just a suggestion on how you might be able to overcome the issues with creating app-specific versions for different mobiles.
Instead of creating an app for each mobile type (which would require separate development teams, more overhead, etc.) why not create a mobile-friendly version of the Simpleology website?
That way regardless of what mobile phone is used, someone could just open their mobile browser and goto something like mobile.simpleology.com and login to the mobile version of it.
This way you would just be updating and fixing one thing for all mobile users as everyone would be going to the same website. Then you could always look into making a specific app for each type of mobile device later down the track when you have more time, resources, etc. for it.
Hope this helps.
